SEND

Some children may need additional support, from time to time, in specific areas, or children may need longer term support, perhaps in multiple areas.

All pupils are offered full access to a broad, balanced and relevant education with adaptations that ensure equity for everyone.

We encourage and support all pupils to become independent and to take responsibility within the school. Our environment includes easy access to the whole site, a sensory garden, sensory room and a light room. We believe that everyone in the school community has a positive and active part to play in achieving this aim.

Pupils with physical difficulties are catered for in accordance with the LA's guidelines. The school is equipped with some facilities for physically disabled children.

Parents/ carers are very welcome to discuss any concerns that they have, regarding their child’s learning or development, with the staff of the school. In the first instance, this conversation will usually take place with the class teacher. A close partnership with parents/ carers is beneficial in ensuring that individuals achieve the best possible outcomes.

The SENDCo has responsibility for monitoring all children who require extra assistance. With parent/ carer permission, outside professionals may be consulted to offer additional advice. We have a governor who is responsible for monitoring special needs and its provision.

Our SENDCo is Mrs J Perry and the SEN governor is Mrs V Barnsley. Both can be contacted through the school office.
